Cheap leather (often labeled “genuine leather”) is made from the leftover layers after quality leather is cut. It’s stiff, lacks durability, won’t develop attractive patina, and may peel or crack within 1-2 years. The quality difference is immediately apparent in how the leather feels, looks, and performs over time.
